Distinguished guests, parents and this year’s graduating class, we are gathered here to honor and celebrate a huge accomplishment. Graduating high school. Four long and straining years, but I think we can agree that it has been the most important. In high school, we learn who we are. We walked into freshmen year scared and afraid, but now I stand here looking at a room full of young adults ready to take on the world.

I think that what that quote means is that life is short and opportunities are rare. We have to be vigilant in protecting them and not only the opportunities to succeed but the opportunity to laugh, to see the enchantment in the world and, to live. Because life doesn’t owe us anything as a matter of fact I think that we owe something to the world. We owe the world to be the best we can be and follow our dreams. Mistakes will be made along the way, but that is what life is about.
